Our Summer of Camping

Our Summer of Camping

Our summer of camping was quite an experience! This post is long overdue. I meant to update you all weekly during our camping adventures, but my cell phone service wasn’t good enough to upload any photos to the blog. What I did upload, I waited until we drove to town for groceries and tried to do that as fast as I could. Due to being so behind on updating you all now, I’m going to summarize our summer the best I can so we can move forward with Fall!

Like I mentioned, our summer of camping really was quite an experience. If you follow along on Facebook, you were able to see a few posts on the small happenings throughout the trip. This included all of the fun with the water being out in the camper. The pipe under our sink broke 3 times before I made a phone call to my dad to figure out what the heck we needed to do so we didn’t keep flooding our camper. Once that was finally fixed, things went pretty smoothly from there on out as far as issues with the camper.

What also happened was, because we were staying in one spot for 2 months, we bought a blue tote to empty the black tank. Lucky us, it had a manufacturer defect! It leaked at the seam. That was fun to figure out. Go to unload the tank and as we start to drive it to the dumping station we notice that it’s leaking the contents out. Can you say gross?? Yeah.. we were quite pleased, as you can imagine.

We did enjoy our stay so much though. We spent weekends on the beach when it was warm enough. (There were a few cold weekends.) We traveled to Grayling and Petoskey. There were so many nice people we met. Several bonfires with new friends, s’mores, campfire pies, and a lot of good laughs. I was really sad when Dan’s job ended and it was time to come home. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Next summer, I’ll pick up where I meant to leave off and share our tips for long camping stays, recipes we tried out, and fun activities to do with kids while camping!

I hope you all had an unforgettable Summer, and here’s to an amazing Fall!
