A Family of Four on the Road Camping for the Summer
A dad, a mom, a 7 year old, and a 5 year old. We are hitting the road and camping out of our fifth wheel for most, if not all, of the summer!
The school year finally ended on June 9th and we were definitely ready for the break!
I’m so proud of both of my boys. They both did so great this year and have made even more leaps and bounds from where they were last year. Seth is moving on to the first grade, and Elijah graduated from his 3 years in the Early Childhood Special Education Preschool Program. His speech still needs some work as far as articulation, but he will be mainstreaming next year!
As for summer, my husband has a job a couple of hours from home. Instead of us sitting around at home while he worked, we decided we’d pull the fifth wheel up and stay in a campground all summer! (Or at least be camping for most of summer, depending on his work.)
First camping stop, Wooden Shoe Park in Ellsworth, MI. I picked this place because it had:
- Monthly camping rates
- Availability
- Water & electric (unfortunately, no sewer hook-up)
- Showers which are suppose to be clean and just repainted.
- Next to Ellsworth Lake
- Ellsworth Lake has a beach for swimming
- Fishing is also an option here
- Playground by the beach
We’re going to be in the wooded area too, which is nice if 2 trees are closer together so we can hang up our hammock.
Follow along in our journey as we see how a summer of camping goes with the 4 of us living out of our 27′ Qwest by Jayco fifth wheel.
Also coming soon, my review of our stay for the weekend at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resorts for my birthday.
Until next time friends!
I love this!!! You are so brave to take this on and I can’t wait to follow you guys on your journey!
Thanks! This first week has been a little crazy (posting about that soon), but overall I think it will be a pretty great summer!
Wow! I love camping. This is such a good idea for us camping lovers out there. Thank you for recommending a place to go.
You’re welcome! I hope to give a more thorough remove as we spend some time there. 🙂
That’s such a great idea!!! Does this mean you’ll all be close to your husband while he’s working too? So great that it would help with more time together because of less of a commute. Also… I’m from Michigan!!! I live in FL now, for about 7 years, but we’re originally from the mitten 🙂
Yes! He gets to stay in the campground with us. 🙂 We are about 30 minutes from where he’s working, and the next campground we’re heading to mid-July will only be about 15 minutes or so from where he is working. Looks like it’s a small world after all! I hope you’ve been enjoying Florida!
