What Makes You Stupendous – Achieving Those New Year’s Resolutions Part 2

Hello My Stupendous Friends! How Are You Doing with those New Year’s Resolutions?

What Makes You Stupendous - Achieving Those New Year's Resolutions - A Stupendous Life

Last week I gave 3 actionable steps to start doing to achieve your resolutions this year. I was helping you lay the foundation for obtaining the right mindset to achieve your goals.

Now that we’re in the right mindset to achieve our resolutions and goals, here are some steps to stay on track throughout the year.

1) Plan Out Your Goals Into Actionable Steps

Everyone has heard of SMART goals right? (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results-Focused, and Time-Bound.) This is what I use my planners for. I use all of the ones that I listed in Starting The New Year Off With The Right Planner. I really like how the fitness one is laid out because you can really break down your goals and resolutions into mini-goals throughout the year.

2) Have Clear, Concise Steps and Goals

Instead of a resolution such as “I want to lose weight”, say “I want to lose 20lbs this year.” Instead of your resolution being “I want to pay off my debt”, say “I want to pay off $10,000 in credit card debt this year.” (Or however much debt you may have.) This goes back to those SMART goals. You need your goal to be specific and measurable.

3) Break Down Your Goals

What I like to do is take my monthly view of my calendar and in the front of the month, or the notes section, write down my monthly goals. My monthly goals are my resolutions divided up into the next 12 months. Example: I want to lose 20 lbs this year. You will have it broken down to about 1.7 lbs per month. OR I want to pay off $10,000 in credit card debt this year. You will break that down into $834 a month for the next 12 months.

4) Visualize It

A great tool to have around is a vision board! It will serve as a daily reminder of what you’re trying to achieve. Take out some old magazines, print off some pictures, grab that glue stick and some scissors. Put your resolutions on there and include anything that will motivate and encourage you.

5) Find an Accountability Buddy

Accountability buddies aren’t just gym buddies. No matter what your resolution is, find someone with a similar resolution. Join a mastermind group of like-minded people. Find a friend who you can check in with every day or every week. Make your resolutions public so others can keep you going when you’re losing your motivation.

6) Listen to Podcasts or Read Blog Posts

Need some extra motivation throughout the year? Listen to podcasts that are about the types of goals you are achieving. Subscribe to a couple blogs so you don’t miss those posts that motivate you and keep you going. Borrow a book. If you don’t have time to sit and read, rent or buy an audio book to listen on your commute.

Finally, our last step…

7) Confidence

This is the one trait you need to succeed. Have confidence in yourself. You know that you can do this if you put your mind to it. Let’s achieve those goals!
